Mini for Mother

I've been thinking about making a religious mini-album for Mum for years. I've had umpteen ideas about how to do it, and have bought parts and allocated materials for several of them. However it took Georgina's gift (thank you!) of 2 little black mini albums (I already have 3!) to make me get my act together and actually produce something more tangible than ideas, notes and bags of bits.

I've just realised that it's largely a Stephanie Weightman book, too, with the Large Flourish Tattered Lace die from magazine #6, and her Floral Textures paper. The other dies are X-cut book-plate, QuicKutz Nested Circles and Scalloped Circles, and Spellbinders Lacey Circles Nestabilities dies. The Bible quotes and hymns are computer printed and the gems are from various different packs.

I haven't given it to her yet, but she doesn't read this blog so it's safe to show you first!

Mini backpack album

Have a look at this!

I created it as inspiration for Challenge #165 at Scrap Whispers, but I wanted to show it off here as well.

I used the tutorial originally featured back in 2010 here. Back then I used it to make this darling little backpack album for Anmarie, and of course it was to give away, but it was so pretty I didn't want to part with it!

And now all this time later, I've got round to making one for myself. I'm entering it into this week's Papertake Weekly challenge which is "anything goes", so I hope they accept it. And Stampin' for the Weekend's challenge this week is "anything but a card" which this fits neatly.

Want to make your own? Go for it! I've linked the tutorial and my other example, and if you enter it into the Scrap Whispers Challenge, you will be in with a chance of winning the prize in the draw at the end of March.

Scrap Whispers September Blog Hop - covering books

Thank you for joining us again for the Scrap Whispers September Blog Hop!

Firstly please join the DT in waving a fond farewell to Kimberly, who has decided to move on. We all wish her the very best with her family and her gorgeous little boy. Thank you for all your energy and enthusiasm Kim, and don't lose touch - keep coming back and playing along with us?

This month, in readiness for school, the lovely Nilsa has provided a simple tutorial for transforming a regular school notebook into a work of art that anyone would be proud to carry to class. I haven't got any children, and I don't know any children to make things for, so I have covered a mini-album that I won, in readiness for filling it with beautiful decorations and photos.

I've broken into my beautiful ScrapJazz prize Basic Grey Sweet Threads collection pack for the first time. It is SO PRETTY it takes my breath away. It's too pretty to use, but I must - I will - and I have to do justice to it now!

I took the covers off and sprayed the holes end with Smooch Limolicious ink. I inked the paper, added the fibre, the title and the flowers before sticking it on and putting it all back together. The pages are black and all different with little pockets, slots, flaps, frames. I can't wait to finish it off now! Doesn't that cover just make your mouth water? LOL

All you have to do now is to hop through all our wonderful DT members' blogs, leaving a comment on each guaranteed to make their day. Then go back to Scrap Whispers for Nilsa's tutorial, and make your own beautifully simple/simply beautiful creation. Post it on your blog, linking back to the Scrap Whispers blog, and link us up to your blog so we can all come by and leave some happy comments on yours. You could win a fabby prize, which is so new that I have no idea what it is yet! All will be revealed on the Scrap Whispers blog.

Here are the DT's blogs:
Georgina
Nilsa
Kelly
Sherri
Rosey (here!)
And of course Scrap Whispers

Happy hopping!

Scrap Whispers Blog Hop

It's the monthly Scrap Whispers Blog Hop! If you've come here from there, then perfect. If not, pop back and leave your comment, then follow the links.

This month the lovely Kelly has produced the prettiest, cutest little project I've seen for a long time, and I tell you, I had SUCH a good time making this as a gift for my friend in the UK. I sent her a cryptic e-mail asking her for some photos all from the same event, then I chopped them about, paired them with My Mind's Eye papers and added pink, punched flowers and lots of glitter. It was so pretty that I didn't want to part with it, but I did put it in the post. I got the e-mail only yesterday telling me that it had arrived and how thrilled she was, and there were LOTS of capital letters and exclamation marks so I think she was pleased. :-)

Isn't that the most adorable little thing? So, all you have to do is to pop on over to Scrap Whispers for the tutorial and link up your version there, then follow the links and "hop" through the DT's blogs, leaving a comment on each. Your next port of call is at Kelly's blog.

Have fun!

Scrapbook of a scrapbook

I've been working on my first mini-album. My first scrapbook was of DH's parents' Ruby Wedding Anniversary. That was what got me started in scrap-booking, and the album was a gift for them. I took photos of all the pages, and logged how each page came together, but that wasn't enough for me - I wanted that physical album to look through again! As the album is 6000 miles away in their home, I decided to make a mini-album for myself, journalling the making of that album and using the photos of the pages, as well as papers and embellishments left over from it.

Here is the finished result.
